| Cash in My Gold - Is Now the Best Time to Sell? |
You've seen the commercials on TV, you've read the ads as well....you might even have been starting to ask yourself, is now the right time to cash in my gold? With gold prices hovering around the $900 mark, why wouldn't you? Let's take a look at some of the pros and cons of selling and not selling.
If we take peak at most jewelry boxes in the average home, we begin to realize that we are sitting on a small fortune in scrap gold. That broken ring that was in style years ago, those mismatched earrings, or the ring from your ex-boyfriend that you never wear.
How about all those knotted up, twisted, broken necklaces, that just don't make sense to repair because of the cost involved. Sometimes it costs more to repair an item than to buy another similar piece of jewelry.
We sometimes feel we don't want to give up these items, because of the memories that might be associated with them. Year by year we forget where this piece or that piece came from, as so it goes, we're left with a pile of mismatched, broken, out of date "junk". Just stop, and ask yourself "Do I really need this stuff, or am I sitting on small fortune without even realizing it?"
Of course if we have been entertaining the possibility of selling, in the back of mind we're thinking "maybe the price of gold will go up", and I'll make even more money, and I should just wait, and see what happens.....that's human nature.
Maybe it's just as important to ask ourselves the following question as well "what will it cost me if the price of gold goes down", after all isn't that the other side of the equation?
Whether the current gold price is at $875, $900, or more an ounce, these are unprecedented times for the gold market and gold prices at these levels are unusual. There's always a greater chance of a deep drop than a steep rise.
If gold value falls back to the 2004 lows, consumers could be getting 50% less! Maybe we should allow ourselves to remember the old saying that...."a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush", and start to realize this is the best time to sell.
In today's difficult economy, it's always helpful to know ways to generate fast cash. Most people don't know they have the ability to generate cash at their finger tips.
